The Most Popular Fence in Northwest Ohio
Wood privacy fence is what we install most. It gives you a full visual screen, keeps kids and dogs in, and looks right on nearly every street in Holland, Springfield Township, Maumee, and the west-side Toledo neighborhoods. We build it out of cedar or pressure-treated pine, framed on solid rails, with pickets fastened so the line reads straight from the street.
The difference between a wood fence that lasts and one that leans is almost always underground. Lucas County soil holds water and frost moves posts, so we dig below frost depth, set posts in concrete with drainage at the base, and brace every corner, end, and gate post before pickets go on.
Styles We Build
Dog-ear privacy — the classic, cost-effective 6-foot screen. Pickets butted tight for full privacy with a rounded top edge.
Board-on-board — overlapping pickets that stay private even as the wood dries and shrinks. The best choice if you want no gaps at all.
Shadowbox — alternating pickets that look finished from both sides, which is often what an HOA or a shared property line calls for.
Privacy with lattice or spaced top — a decorative top section that lets light through while keeping the lower run solid.
Stain, Maintenance & Grade Changes
Treated pine should dry a season before it takes stain. Cedar can be sealed sooner or left to weather to silver-gray. We stain the fences we install if you want it handled in one contract, and we will tell you honestly when waiting is the better call.
On sloped yards we either rack the fence to follow the grade or step it in even sections, and we walk that decision with you on site so there are no surprises where the fence meets a driveway, patio, or existing neighbor fence.

Wood Privacy Fence Questions, Answered
How long does a wood privacy fence take to install?
Most residential yards are finished in one to three working days once materials are on site and utility locates are back.
Cedar or pressure-treated — which should I pick?
Pressure-treated pine costs less and holds up well when it is set and fastened correctly. Cedar is more stable, resists warping, and weathers to a nicer gray if you never plan to stain. We price both on your estimate so you can compare.
Do you remove the old fence?
Yes. Tear-out, hauling, and disposal of your existing fence can be included as a line item in the quote.
How deep do you set the posts?
Below the local frost line, in concrete, with a drainage base — the depth that keeps a 6-foot run from heaving through an Ohio winter.
